2021 Long Range Challenge

The LRC is a very simple and informal long range match. The format is simple: 5 Stages at steel targets ranging from 300 to over 1000 yards. All shots taken are from the prone position. Each stage has 5 targets with up to 3 attempts at each target. Distance to all targets will be given and they will be identified. Shooters are asked to help spot and keep score. We will have as many as 5 shooters on the line at each stage at a time and take turns engaging targets in order. Calibers are limited to .30 cal and magnum’s are accepted as long as they are not larger than 300 call and under 3,100FPS velocity limit on all cartridges of 3100 FPS. Your ammo may be subject to inspection and/or a speed test.

Match Schedule

Check in is open from 8:00-8:45AM the morning of at the PNTC headquarters building. The mandatory safety & match briefing will begin promptly each day of the match at 9:00 AM at Frontier. Match will begin immediately following the briefing. The match is generally finished by 4 PM.

Target Size

1MOA – 3MOA. Some targets may be as small as 1MOA.

Scoring

Shooters will act as score keepers and spotters to track hits and misses for each of the 5 stages. Shooters have 3 attempts to hit each target; all attempts are noted on the sheet. At the end of the match, shooters will receive a bonus hit for every 10 first-round hits they accumulate. Final score will be ranked in order of hits, first-round hits and misses. A perfect score would be 27, 25, 0.

Safety

Keep your firearm(s) unloaded and cased upon arrival to our ranges and do not handle them at your vehicle. Once you reach a designated safe area, firearms can be uncased and a chamber flag inserted. If you are in need of a chamber flag, they are available at PNTC HQ. This is an all rifle match. Keep all handguns in your vehicle. Safe areas are to be kept free of ammunition at all times. Firearms are not to be loaded until the shooter is on the firing line or under the direction of a PNTC Range Officer. You MUST wear hearing and eye protection during the match. 

DO NOT handle firearms at your vehicle. Use the “Safe Areas” to case, uncase and/or repair firearms. No bi-metal, armor piercing, incendiary or tracer rounds allowed. If a magnet sticks to a projectile, it cannot be used. Failure to abide by these rules will result in a match disqualification.

Children

No children under 10 years of age permitted as spectators or shooters! Please do not bring a minor by yourself and shoot in the match. Minors must be under DIRECT SUPERVISON of a parent or legal guardian at ALL TIMES at PNTC. No Junior Shooters under age 10. All Junior Shooters must remain with a parent and must show that they are able to be safe and have good conduct.
